NFL Kicking Tip #4
Core Board Workout
Having a strong core makes you a better athlete and a better kicker/punter. These exercises come from an NFL offseason manual that I received from one of the teams while I played for them. We did this routine three times a week before lifting weights. Performing core board exercises aids in building frequently overlooked supporting musle groups around shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles.
Benefits include:
- more fluid execution of skills
- improved resistance to injury
- improved strength in the weight room
- improved functional (on the field) strength
- improved endurance (weak core muscles lead to earlier set in of fatigue. this is also when most injuries occur)
